When Your Heat or AC Goes Out, We Pick Up

On the Gulf Coast, a broken air conditioner in July or a dead heat pump on a freezing January night isn't something that can wait until next week. Estes Heating & Air offers 24/7 emergency service for homes and light commercial buildings across Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Our office is open 7 days a week, 8 am to 5 pm, and after hours you can still reach us for emergencies.

We're a family-owned company that has served this coast since 1982. When you call, you're reaching local people who understand how fast a house heats up when the AC quits.

What Counts as an HVAC Emergency?

If you're not sure whether your problem can wait, here are some situations where you should call right away:

• No cooling during extreme heat, especially with babies, older adults, pets, or anyone with health concerns in the home
• No heat during a freeze, when indoor temperatures are dropping
• Burning smells or smoke coming from vents or equipment
• A gas smell near a furnace. Leave the house first and call your gas utility or 911 from outside, then call us.
• Water pouring from the indoor unit or a ceiling stain spreading near the air handler
• The breaker trips every time the system starts
• Loud banging, grinding, or screeching that starts suddenly

If your system is just running a little warm, or a single room is uncomfortable, it may be able to wait for a regular appointment. When in doubt, call and we'll help you decide.

What to Do While You Wait

A few safe steps can protect your home and sometimes even fix the problem:

1. Check the thermostat. Make sure it's set to Cool or Heat, the set temperature is right, and the batteries aren't dead.
2. Check the breaker. If the HVAC breaker has tripped, reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call us. Repeated tripping points to an electrical problem.
3. Check the filter. A badly clogged filter can choke airflow and freeze the coil.
4. Turn the system off if the coil is frozen. Running the fan alone can help it thaw. Don't chip at ice.
5. Keep water damage in check. If the drain pan is overflowing, shut the system off and put towels or a bucket in place.
6. Stay comfortable and safe. In the heat, close blinds, use fans, and drink water. In the cold, close off unused rooms and dress warmly. Never use a gas oven or outdoor heater to heat your home.

Fast, Honest Repairs on Any Make or Model

Our technicians repair all makes and models of air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, electric heat, and ductless systems. We'll explain what's wrong in plain language, tell you what it will take to fix it, and let you decide before any work begins. If a repair makes more sense than a replacement, we'll say so.

If your system can't be saved, we'll go over replacement options, and financing is available with approved credit through GoodLeap, Upgrade, and Regions.

Fewer Emergencies with the Estes Comfort Agreement

The best emergency is the one that never happens. Many breakdowns start as small problems, like a weak capacitor, a clogged drain, or a dirty coil, that a tune-up would have caught. With the Estes Comfort Agreement, we contact you twice a year to schedule a precision tune-up, cleaning, and safety inspection. Agreement customers also get priority service , which matters most on the busiest days of summer and winter, and 10% off repair services (parts and labor).
